Excuse Letter For School Due To Death In The Family

In the unfortunate event of a death in the family, here’s a simple template you can use to write a letter to the teacher about a death in family. This template is very useful if your child is missing school because of a death in the family.

Death is something that is often difficult to cope with. Losing a loved one can be especially hard for young children who may not fully understand what has happened. If your child needs to take some time off from school to mourn the loss of a family member, here is an example of an excuse letter they can give their teacher.

Dear [name of teacher],

This is to inform you that [child’s name], studying in [child’s grade in school] will be unable to attend classes for [number of days] due to a death in our family. We have to attend the funeral held in [location] so we will have to travel.

We will ensure that [child’s name] can keep up with [his/her] studies once we get back. Thus, we would like to ask for your assistance in gathering the work that [his/her] classes will cover while [child’s name] is away.

We will help [him/her] catch up with the lessons while traveling.

Thank you so much for understanding and your help.

Sincerely,
